Tips for safe sleeping:
- Infants should sleep only on their backs, even for short naps (until age 1)
- They should sleep on a flat, firm surface with no loose objects
Tips for improving sleep:
- Keep the room at a slightly cooler temperature
- Encourage active play while awake (tummy time is great!)
- Put baby in bed when drowsy, but not yet asleep
- Try not to stimulate your infant if they wake up to be changed at night
- Allow a few moments before responding to your infant waking up to see if they can self-soothe
- As always, if you have questions about improving sleep habits, consult your pediatrician.
